Abigail Parsons is a multidisciplinary artist based in Providence, RI. Through painting, printmaking, moldmaking, and casting, she explores varying perspectives within a single subject or event. Bodily experience, particularly in the context of health, is central to her work and enhanced by material choices that layer and build up the surface of a painting or object. Her work uses a muted color palette that both soothes and unsettles in order to examine systems of care and their interactions with the body through medical machines, procedures, and environments.
Parsons received her BA in English from the College of the Holy Cross and a post-baccalaureate certificate from Brandeis University. She is attending the Rhode Island School of Design for her MFA. Her work has been exhibited in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, including at the Abigail Ogilvy Gallery, Pollack Projects, and Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
